A Basic Introduction to Web Styling with CSS 3

Posted: Thursday, June 30, 2011

Css3 LogoCascading Style Sheets, or CSS for short, were introduced in the mid 1990’s with the aim of allowing developers to separate a webpages' content from its styling and layout. Like earlier versions, the latest update to CSS 3 works on the premise that all elements within a page (such as text, images and headings) can be given a unique ID which can then be referenced within a separate style sheet to apply a wide range of styling to the referenced element or group of elements. These styles can then cascade through all elements that the style is applied to allowing for large changes in styling and formatting to occur with a fairly small amount of actual code.
