5: How Much Should My Website Cost

How much should a website costFor most people in the service industry this is always a tough question at the beginning of a conversation, for us, it is an easy one to answer. We don’t have a price list to put online or give to our clients because the cost of building and marketing a lead generating website depends on many variables. Each business is different and the level of competition is also different and the effort required to achieve the objectives are largely based on the end result the client wants for their business. Here are some of the factors that determine price:

  1. The level of competition in your industry – if you are selling a single service and it is unique to you in the UK then we have to first find out if people are looking for your kind of service, what terms they are using and what the level of competition is for whatever alternative service exists. Then we assess the challenges you are going to have with reaching your target market and design a strategy plan for getting the results.
  2. If like most people you have lots of competitors we need to do an assessment of their strength and weaknesses both online and offline. In some industries there are competitors but their online efforts are weak and it is must easier to get results and therefore less costly. In other industries the level of competition is very high and our job is to formulate a plan that will get you results but clearly it will take more effort and therefore costs more.
  3. If you already have a well designed website with engaging content and all we are doing is the marketing, then the cost of marketing depends on the level of competition and to an extent how much your competitors are investing in their marketing. It also depends on whether we recommend PPC, SEO or a combination of both.
  4. If your service area is small (for instance Southampton or Basingstoke), it will cost less to get results for both PPC and SEO, the more geography you cover, the more effort it will take and therefore the more it will cost to get results.

These are just some of the factors that drive pricing; one price does not fit all. We have customers that have been with us for years because we generate business for them.
